As submitted by our Press Secretary, Margaret Gibb

We had a very good turnout for our March meeting when we held the first of our two informal Spring flower shows. Members chose Ros McMeekin’s arrangement of cut garden flowers to be the winning exhibit.
Our speaker for the evening was Jim Jermyn who really impressed us with the quality of his stunning photos taken in Branklyn Garden over the seasons, and with his knowledge and background information about the Rentons, who originally designed and created the garden. After a long career which included running their own alpine plant nursery, Jim and his wife Alison worked at Branklyn for six years from 2017 - 2023, he as property manager/head gardener, and Alison in charge of the tearoom which they set up in what had formerly been the library.
Our next meeting will be held in Enterprise House from 7.30pm to 9.30pm on Thursday, April 17, when the speaker is Nancy Stevens who will be giving a talk entitled ‘ Poppies, Peacocks and Parterres- Gardens of Scotland’. Nancy has a lifelong passion for plants and gardening, and is a past chairperson of Baldernock Gardening Club.
We will also be holding the second of our Spring shows when members are encouraged to bring a variety of bulbs, flowers and potted plants.
New members are always welcome and can contact Paul Malcolm on 01415781520 or visit our tab Meetings 2024/5 for more information.
